The Anner started life as a country house and keeps some of that charm while adding modern rooms and facilities. It sits in landscaped gardens on the outskirts of Thurles.

The leisure centre has a 20-metre pool, a children’s pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub. Ed’s Bar & Bistro does a daily carvery and an evening menu, and Seasons is the more formal restaurant.

The M8 is a six-minute drive, putting Cork and Dublin both within easy reach.
