How to choose

Book the named room, not the hotel. A hotel with one jacuzzi suite will happily sell you a standard double, and the booking sites rarely make the difference obvious. If the room type on your confirmation doesn’t match the one we name, ring the hotel before you travel.

Decide between a bath and a hot tub. A jacuzzi or spa bath is an indoor bath with jets, filled when you want it and emptied after. A hot tub on a terrace stays filled and heated, sits outside, and usually takes two to six people. For a winter break, the bath is the safer bet; for stars and sea air, the terrace.

Check what’s included. Some suites include spa access, breakfast or late check-out, and some charge extra for robes or for heating an outdoor tub. Ask whether the terrace tub is ready on arrival or needs a call to reception.
