The Athlone Springs is in Monksland, a quiet suburb about six minutes’ drive from Athlone town and right by the M6, halfway between Dublin and Galway. Rooms are bright with fast WiFi and TVs that work with Netflix.

The leisure club has a 20-metre pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub and gym. Breakfast is in the Cedar restaurant, and there’s plenty of free parking.
